What applications consume the most data on your SmartPhone?

All of us who have a smartphone know how frustrating it is running out of battery or data. We worry that our data rate will be extinguished before our month end and that it will cost us more, and there are some applications at fault. You may have apps on your phone that are running in the background, without you even using them, and spending data.

These might send us notifications, which update data live or that are fully prepared so that when you open everything is up to date. Sometimes this is great for us but really we have to pay a price: our data. A computer security company Avast has tested more than three million phones for a few months to advise which mobile applications are mostly consumed in the background.

As expected, the list is headed by Facebook and Google applications. These are apps that we all have installed on our mobile phone and consume more data and battery as they constantly track our contacts, our interests, etc.

This first list consume background data of our plan:-

Facebook
Instagram
Yahoo! Japan
Firefox
The Weather Channel
Whatsapp
Google Chrome
DU Battery Know
Facebook Lite
Google Play Store

The list differs from the applications that spend the most when they are running.

These are the applications that use the most data when actually running:-

Netflix (unsurprisingly!)
Spotify Music
Snapchat
BBC News
LINE: Free Calls & Messages
Microsoft Outlook
Clean Master
Samsung WatchON
Amazon for tablets
PicsArt Photo Studio & Collage

The list of apps that overall drain the most battery life, mobile data, and storage at the same time are some of those as follows:-

Tinder
Spotify Music
LINE
Snapchat
Amazon Shopping
CleanMaster
Google Sheets
The Guardian
Smart News

These type of apps that in one way or another continue to run in the background (e.g. via notifications, background updates, etc.), it might be best with some of them to go into your app
permissions and make sure to disable their notifications or limit their background activities. Others include Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, the new trendy app musical.ly and the skype competitor WhatsCall.

If you want applications not to consume even if they are in the background but do not want to uninstall them, you can force stop them. Just go to the application information and force stop if you are not going to use them. This will stop consuming data in the background without your permission and you can reach the end of the month without exhausting your tariff.

Finally, my son is always telling me to remember to switch off my phone, not just wait for the time period to elapse before it does it automatically!
