A client has approached us enquiring about changing a vehicle onto Spanish plates.
We advised them that to start the process they should take the car to a local garage to confirm the headlights are standard for left-hand drive. Then they visit their nearest ITV (MOT) station where they will ensure the car is roadworthy, and they will provide the clients with documents that have to be submitted to The Spanish Traffic Department (Trafico).
Once this has been done and the clients bring us the paperwork then we can submit the documents to Trafico.
We will also need the following documents-
-ITV documents, (3 blue sheets and 1 white)
-Logbook
-Passport
-NIE or Residencia
-Water or electricity bill or Padron no more than 6 months old or title deeds to confirm the clients’ address
Import taxes will be calculated by the Traffic Department upon receipt of the log book and ITV. If clients send us a copy of the log book and (ITV) MOT, we will then ask Trafico to calculate the import taxes and give clients an accurate cost for importing the vehicle.

I have a car in the UK which is insured and registered in my name. I now have residency in Spain and now need a Spanish licence by law and have to forfeit my UK licence. Will there be a problem
taxing, insuring the car without a UK licence. I visit the UK regularly as my mother is elderly.
