Digital Signature in Spain

Our world is digital and administration tasks in Spain shouldn’t be an exception. How much time have you spent in Banks, Town Halls, Notaries…. just waiting for something to happen?

Luckily, now we can do pretty much all paperwork from home because Spain has introduced the digital signature.

What is the digital signature?

It is a digital file which allows organisations to identify people online. It has your ID data and it guarantees the authenticity by an officially certified organisation. Although this has been going on since 2003, it’s only within the last 10 years that it’s become more regularly used by citizens, especially now.

What can I do with the digital signature?

We can save time to do your paperwork with the administration. How many times did you go to an appointment, and waste your time because you forgot one document? This digital file allows us to forget that.

Examples of what you can do:

  • Submitting taxes (SUMA)
  • Checking debts with the administration
  • Paying fines online
  • Getting a certificate of your padrón
  • Submitting appeals
  • Receiving official letters and notifications online
  • Signing documents online
  • Download a Digital Spanish Driving Licence to your phone
  • In fact, this way of signing is just as valid in Spain as your written signature.

How can I get my digital signature?

At Spanish Solutions, we have an agreement with UANATACA, a certified organisation to issue digital signatures.

Certified stamp from UANATACA

Please, contact our team and we will explain the process and how we can help you get one.

I am trying to complete my (and my wife’s) application for a Digital Certificate and have at last, succeeded in receiving the Codes by email from SEDE. I am now faced with going personally to a designated Centre (Personas Fisícas) and find that the UM centre near my holiday home in Los Alcázares in San pedro, only has occasional appointments when I am back in the UK. I have attempted the proving over the Internet but don’t undersnd the method as they want your passport plus the NIE document shown on the camera and other paperwork that Google Translate cannot make proper sense of! Have you any helpful solutions to simply getting our identities proved so that I can pay my online taxes and manage my Town Hall paperwork?
